Oh Keegan's....how I miss you. Now that I live in Chicago, I don't get to come here as often as I used to. This restaurant is such a gem.

My family and I have been going to Keegan's for years, long before they were a two room restaurant and were featured on The Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives". I've heard there is a new owner, but the food still seems about the same, even though the menu is a bit different. The chef there is one of the best, imo. He consistently comes up with these creative, unique, fusion dishes, packed full of flavor and surprise.

When I was younger, my favorite dish was a simple Parmesan crusted Mahi Mahi sandwich, but now that I'm older and willing to try any dish, their specials are the first thing I read. Some favorites have included a wasabi grouper dish and a jerk fish dish served on a plank.  I recommend trying a special. They will blow your mind and taste buds. Also, you must have the shrimp Leones. Mmm, I dream about the sauce that comes with it.

The appearance of this place is no thrills, typical kitschy Florida. The food though is positively 5 star.  I hope Keegan's always retains its local, hole-in-the-wall attitude and charm.
